We melted the switchboard at the U.S. House yesterday imploring OUR representatives to stop this huge, job-killing tax on American productivity. In the end, OUR representatives listened to the Speaker from
"Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." he said. And he's right.
The Heritage Foundation breaks it down here.
We're not just talking about OUR costs in the here and now. We're talking about costs from 2012 to 2035 -- the exact time most of our kids will be starting their OWN families. These slimebags just saddled our kids with an extra $71,000+ in costs for just about everything. All for a scam trumped up by wacko environmentalists with the goal of destroying our status as the greatest industrialized nation on the face of the earth.
The proponents of this scam will tell you the costs are minimal. But what happens when the power company you get your electricity from gets a $280 million yearly increase in their costs. They pass it on to you of course. Likewise for the retail store that sees their power bill shoot up by 90%. And the manufacturing firm that gets hit by the higher power rates AND the costs of regulating as a poison a gas that is part of their process and, in fact, is a gas that occurs naturally in the atmosphere and is essential to life
The firewall here is the U.S. Senate which will be debating their version of the bill after the Independence Day recess. This madness MUST be stopped here. What can you do? First of all, here is a list of the roll call on Waxman-Markey from the House yesterday. Find your House member on this roster and if they are one of the 219 in the aye column, call them, write them, make sure they know that you will actively campaign against them in 2010. Next contact your senators and keep contacting them. If we melted the House switchboard, we must liquefy the Senate switchboard after the Independence Day recess. THIS CANNOT BECOME LAW. THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN AND OUR CHILDREN"S CHILDREN IS HANGING IN THE BALANCE!
