The Tyranny of the Majority

Watch this video of House Minority Leader John Boehner on the floor of the House exposing the folly and the outrageous provisions of the Democrat's Cap and Tax bill and the bill's sponsor Henry Waxman trying to shut him down. Boehner absolutely slays Waxman, but the important question here is why is Waxman trying to shut Boehner up? If Waxman has nothing to hide in the 300-page ammendment to the Waxman-Markey Cap and Tax bill that squeaked by in the House last Friday, why should he object to having Boehner shine the light of day on it by reading some of the provsions all of us will have to live by into the Congressional Record? The fact is, he does have something to hide -- lots of things to hide.

The first of these seems to be that the bill doesn't even exist. Yes, you heard it right. The bill apparently wasn't even completed at the time the commie pinko House leadership was ramrodding it through the House. But what does this matter when it's not actually about addressing "climate change" ? (Didn't this used to be "global warming" just a couple of years ago?) We all know it's about usurping as much power for the government and depriving you and I of as much liberty as possible.

Case in point, some of the provisions of that pesky little 300-page amendment introduced at 3 AM Friday when everyone was sound asleep:

* "Energy loans" for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- the two quasi-governmental home fianace organizations that the Democrats raped and pillaged during the 90s under the guise of the notion that everyone has a "right" to a house.

* The creation of "green banking centers". Can anobody tell me just what the hell a "green" banking center is?

* A provision that, among other things, would require that the rest of the 49 states meet California's onerous building codes. In addition to taking the vast unconstitutional step of meddling in a area that is clearly the province of states and localities -- setting local building codes -- this provision would require that a bureaucrat analyze your home for the energy efficiency of it's insulation, roof, appliances etc. and require that you upgrade BEFORE you sell your house. Imagine the burden this places on homeowners at the exact time they DON"T need it -- when they are looking to get out from under a house they can't afford or trying to squeeze whatever extra they can out of their existing house for a downpayment on a new house.

There's plenty more that Waxman et. al. don't want you to know about Cap and Tax, but perhaps the worst of all is the supression at the Obama Environmental Protection Agency of an internal report admiting that global warming is a bunch of crap. Here's a little bit of an email EPA analyst Alan Carlin recieved from his supervisor about the decision to can his report:

The administrator and the administration has decided to move forward on endangerment, and your comments do not help the legal or policy case for this decision," he wrote, according to the e-mails released by CEI. "I can only see one impact of your comments given where we are in the process, and that would be a very negative impact on our office.
In other words the Obama Administration has decided, against all available evidence, that "climate change" is destroying the planet, presumably just like "global warming" was in 2006 and "global cooling" was in 1975, and we're not going to let your fact-based opinion get in the way of their policial agenda. So piss off Alan!
