Waxman-Markey Impact Has Already Started

The Waxman-Markey cap and tax bill has yet to make it to the U.S. Senate. But power companies are already looking at rate increases in anticipation of their increased costs -- particularly in states that rely primarily on coal for power generation:

PROVO — Power consumption in Provo is down as much as 13 percent, but changes in the city's power sources could spell higher user rates in the next few years.

The biggest threat of increasing utility rates is the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade-bill that the U.S. House passed Friday afternoon. It proposes to cap and tax the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere, Mayor Lewis K. Billings said.

About 85 percent of Utah's power comes from coal, Billings said. So for Utahns, the Waxman-Markey bill could boost power rates an estimated 10 percent to 40 percent, he said.

Expect the same thing here in the good ole' Midwest where the majority of our power plants are coal-fired as well.

As you are watching the news -- I guess at this point it will have to be Fox News because that is the only REAL news left -- watch the simpering ninnies who voted for this try to defend it. You hear them stammer about "green jobs" and "alternative energy sources" and finally when their argument completely falls apart they are left muttering "but we have to do something, we have to do something". I saw this exact thing this morning in a debate between a Democrat supporter of cap and tax and a Republican opponent of cap and tax.

Make no mistake, the overwhelming majority of the congressmen who supported this legislation are clueless morons slavishly toeing the party line. I count at least two members of the Iowa delegation in this column. These people are tools of Nancy Pelosi and care nothing for the good of their districts or their constituents. The others KNEW exactly what they were doing and re happy to do it. These are the folks who believe as Maurice Strong, a former advisor to ex-United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan:

We may get to the point where the only way to save the world is for the industrialized nations to collapse

This quote, from Mark Levin's book Liberty and Tyranny, pretty much says it all. In wanting to cause the collapse of the industrialized nations, they are starting at the top -- with us. We can't allow this to happen.

If you want the clearest explanation of the agenda of the environmental Marxists, including the liberal's president, who are in charge of the reins of power right now, get Mark Levin's book and read chapter eight.
